Meet our Summer Staff / Rencontrez notre équipe d'été

As we gear up for the baseball season, we would like to introduce our summer staff for this year: Meghan, Zach, and Ally. They will be involved in all aspects of the organization this summer, including Rally Cap, tournaments, scheduling and planning. Get to know them below: 

Lorsque nous nous préparons pour la saison de baseball, nous aimerions présenter notre personnel d'été pour cette année: Meghan, Zach et Ally. Meghan Beland

Meghan grew up in Upper Tantallon, NS, where she played a number of sports, including baseball, ringette, and curling. She was lucky enough to have the opportunity to play in an all-girl’s baseball league, which is where her love for the game developed. She has also been involved in sport as a coach in baseball, softball, curling, and ringette. Meghan has just graduated from UNB with a Bachelor of Recreation and Sports Studies and a minor in Business. She is passionate about youth sport and recreation and is planning on pursuing a research-based Master’s focusing on girls’ experiences in male-dominated sports. For now, though, she is very excited to be involved with Baseball NB as the Program Coordinator and is looking forward to a great summer of baseball!

Meghan a grandi à Upper Tantallon, en Nouvelle-Écosse, où elle a joué plusieurs sports, dont le baseball, la ringuette et le curling. Elle a eu la chance de jouer dans une ligue de baseball exclusivement féminine, et c'est là qu'est née sa passion pour le baseball. Elle a également été entraîneuse de baseball, de softball, de curling et de ringuette. Meghan vient d'obtenir un baccalauréat en études récréatives et sportives avec une mineure en administration des affaires de l'UNB. Elle se passionne pour le sport pour les jeunes et prévoit faire une maîtrise axée sur la recherche sur les expériences des filles dans les sports dominés par les mâles. Pour l'instant, elle est très excité de faire partie de Baseball NB en tant que coordinatrice des programmes et elle a hâte de passer un bel été de baseball!

Zach O'Hara

Zach is an engineering major who has just completed his second year at Santa Barbara City College, a junior college in California that he attended to get to the next step in his baseball career, is coming back for his fourth summer as a summer student with Baseball New Brunswick. Zach was also a part of two Baseball New Brunswick teams, in 2016 at 15U Nationals in Summerside and 2018 at Canada Cup in Moncton. Zach has also been involved as a coach at different levels of baseball through camps, winter programs and summer teams. He hopes to stay involved with baseball, hopefully finding a profession in the sport, for as long as he can. For now, he is playing in the New Brunswick Junior Baseball League for the Fredericton Royals, and excited to be a part of another summer of baseball for BNB.

Zach est un étudiant en ingénierie qui vient de terminer sa deuxième année au Santa Barbara City College, un collège junior en Californie qu'il a fréquenté pour passer à la prochaine étape dans sa carrière de baseball, revient pour son quatrième été avec Baseball Nouveau-Brunswick. Zach a également fait partie de deux équipes de Baseball Nouveau-Brunswick, en 2016 aux championnats nationaux 15U à Summerside et en 2018 à la Coupe Canada à Moncton. Zach a également été entraîneur à différents niveaux de baseball dans des camps, des programmes d'hiver et des équipes d'été. Il espère rester impliqué dans le baseball, en espérant trouver une profession dans le baseball, aussi longtemps qu'il le pourra. Pour l'instant, il joue dans la Ligue de baseball junior du Nouveau-Brunswick pour les Fredericton Royals, et il est excité de participer à un autre été de baseball avec BNB.

Ally Stymiest

Ally is Baseball New Brunswick’s Rally Cap Coordinator for this summer. Ally is 18 and is a student-athlete at the University of Southern Maine going into her second year this fall. At USM, Ally plays Division III hockey and is studying exercise science. Growing up she played provincial baseball for the Moncton Cubs and also went to Nationals with New Brunswick’s U16 girls’ team, where she was the top catcher of the tournament. The following year she was invited to play for the Canadian Prospect Team at Senior Women’s Nationals. Ally is currently playing baseball with the Senior Women’s program in Nova Scotia and will be heading to Stonewall Manitoba with the team for Senior Women’s Nationals mid-July.

Ally est la coordonnatrice de Rallye Cap de Baseball Nouveau-Brunswick pour cet été. Ally a 18 ans et elle est étudiante-athlète à l'Université de Southern Maine, où elle va commencer sa deuxième année cet automne. À USM, Ally joue au hockey de division III et étudie la science de l'exercice. En grandissant, elle a joué au baseball provincial pour les Cubs de Moncton et a également participé aux championnats nationaux avec l'équipe féminine U16 du Nouveau-Brunswick, où elle a été la meilleure receveuse du tournoi. L'année suivante, elle a été invitée à jouer pour l'équipe canadienne des espoirs aux championnats nationaux seniors féminins. Cette été, Ally joue au baseball pour le programme senior féminin de la Nouvelle-Écosse et se rendra à Stonewall, au Manitoba, avec l'équipe pour les championnats nationaux seniors féminins en juillet.
