Winter Development Camp
Baseball NB is pleased to announce its second straight winter offering Off-Season Development Camps, and we are looking forward to expanding after such high demand and success in year one. We will now be offering multiple sessions to both the 13U and 15U age divisions.
Athletes will receive eight training sessions exposing them to 16 hours of elite level clinical instruction in a small group setting to develop all aspects of their game. The program will also include Baseball Canada’s Lab Testing Protocol for a second consecutive year. This will allow coaches to evaluate and track each athlete’s progress and provide feedback throughout the course of the winter.
This year’s camps will be led by Baseball NB Program Coordinator Matt Clark. A former member of the Canadian Junior National Team, graduate from Vauxhall Academy of Baseball(HS), 2011 WVIAC Conference Champion (Concord University - NCAA DII), three-time CCBA Conference Champion, Clark looks forward to entering his second season heading the off-season development program.
Joining this year’s coaching staff is Fredericton native, Corey Wood. Wood graduated from Prospects Academy(HS) before splitting his collegiate career between Prairie Baseball Academy, and the University of Arkansas at Monticello (NCAA DII), where he racked up a lengthy list of accolades during his senior season: 2016 GAC Conference Championship, 1st Team All-American, 2016 GAC Conference Player of the Year, and most notably winning the 2016 Josh Willingham Award which is presented to the Most Valuable Payer across all NCAA DII baseball. Wood now serves as the East Coast Recruiting Coordinator for the Prospects Baseball Academy. Baseball NB is excited to have Wood on board as part the coaching staff.
We are also very excited to have Mark Noel signing on as part of this year’s staff, and having him pass on his knowledge and experience to the athletes. Noel has a coaching career that spans over 3 decades that has ranged from local teams to the National Stage. Mark has played a key role in helping develop some of New Brunswick’s finest talent helping players achieve their goals reaching the next level through academies, universities and even professionally. Noel served as the Head Coach of the Canada Games team in 2009 and 2013, and headed the Canada Cup Team from 2007-2015, where he achieved great success and captured New Brunswick’s only medal(Bronze) at this Championship in 2008. Mark is a two-time winner of Baseball Canada’s Coach of the Year Award, and was the head coach for the Championship team Atlantic in the inaugural Blue Jays Baseball Academy Tournament 12. Mark now serves as the Head Coach of the Chatham Senior Ironmen.
There will also be a guest appearance from Coach Les MacTavish, professional scout for the Seattle Mariners and head coach from Vauxhall Academy of Baseball, who will be spending a day with the coaching staff and athletes offering his experience and expertise.
The camp will cost $250, which gives each athlete eight clinical sessions with our elite coaching staff, as well as two sessions undergoing Baseball Canada Lab Testing Protocol. Players will be exposed to a wide range of drills to develop and maintain baseball specific skills, physical conditioning, arm care/maintenance, and much more. There will also be a nutrition seminar provided to both athletes and parents/guardians during the winter, as an additional service to help our athletes improve their game. The coaching staff is currently working on securing a Sport Psychology seminar to present to the athletes on how to prepare mentally during practice and competition as another service to offer our athletes.
